Have you ever seen an armadillo?

Reading: This week we are reading the story Armadillo's Orange by Jim Aronsky. Our concept question for this week is : Who lives in an orange grove? Our sight words for this week are have and is. Our AMAZING WORDS are: armadillo. tortoise, grubs, burrow, rattlesnake, and insects.
Phonics: This week we will be focusing on the /s/ sound mafe by letter Ss.
Math: We will be working with number 1-10 and working with number lines.

Field Trip Reminder: Please remember to send a labeled sack lunch and drink with your child on Wednesday.
Halloween: We will celebrate Halloween by having pajama day. Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes for PE and recess.

Where do animals live?

Where do animals live? This is the title of our new reading unit. Our first story in this unit is titled Life in an Ocean by Carol K. Lindeen. Our concept question for this week is What is an ocean environment. Our sight words for this week are have and is. Our AMAZING WORDS this week are: ocean, crab, fish, world, shell, and seaweed.

Phonics: In phonics this week we will be learning about the short a sound. Words may start with this sound or have the sound in the middle of the word. We will be learning about both this week.

Math: We will be continuing with number 1-10 this week.

Important News:
Our class will be visiting the book fair on Tuesday, October 21st. If you would like you may send money with your child then. The book fair will be open all week until 3pm.
Family Reading Night is Tuesday, October 21st from 6-8 pm. Wear your favorite pajamas and come read!

ALL FIELD TRIP MONEY AND PERMISSION FORMS ARE DUE ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24TH!!!

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable fall break. Here is what we are doinf this week.

Reading: We are reading Dig Dig Digging by Margaret Mayo this week. Our concept question is: How do machines help people work together? Our sight words for this week are to and a. Our AMAZING WORDS this week are: scooping, squelching, spinning, swooshing, gobbling, and rumbling. Remember to keep practicing the sight words I, am, the, and little at home.

Phonics: This week we are focusing on the /t/ sound made by letter Tt. As you go from place to place during the week see how many things you and your child can find that begin with the sound of /t/.

Math: We have started a new chapter this week. We are focusing on number 0-5 this week.
