The Last Day

Well, here we are the last day of school. Yesterday we only had 11 here, but they worked so hard to help clean up the room. It was greatly appreciated!!!
I've never been known to be short on words. But this morning I am. I am feeling a sense of sadness and excitement that I really can't explain. This year was a blessing for me. Thank you for sharing your children with me. I am looking forward to seeing all of you in the fall for first grade.
Love,
Ms. Avery

Last few days

Well, here we are our last few days of school. It has been an amazing year and I know next year will be just as great, if not better. This week we will only be in class Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday is Field Day and Friday is Awards Day. So needless to say we have a busy week ahead of us. We will be using the first three days of the week to review skills learned this year. Please remember to check your child's folder EVERY DAY!!! There will be important information coming home this week.

Our Last Full Week

Well, this is our last full week of kindergarten. As I look back I am amazed at how far the children have come. I remember that first day when 27 little bodies came into the room. Now I have 19 first graders. I am so proud! Here is what we will be doing this week in our class.
Reading: We will be concluding our year with the book The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper. This is a classic children’s tale that exhibits determination. Our concept question for this week is “What does a train need to get over the mountain?” Our AMAZING WORDS this week are: engine, tracks, passenger, roadhouse, mountain, and valley. Our sight words are: what, said, and was.
Phonics:
We will continue to work with the short vowel sound of Uu. This is the sound heard in the words fun, run, and gum.
Math: We will continue this week to review skills we have learned during this school year. We will work with addition, subtraction, graphing, fractions, and other concepts.
UPCOMING DATES:
Field Day May 21st
Awards Day May 22nd -Half day for students
Make Up Days- May 26th and 27th

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Chaffee office at 428-7040.

Two of Two

Well, this week has been interesting. We are a bit off of our projected plan, but are moving along quickly. This week we are finishing up our math chapter on subtraction. We are also reviewing addition, subtraction, money, time, and graphing. With reading and phonics we are focusing on the short vowel sound of Uu and working with our sight words. This is slightly different from the original plan that is on the May calendar. Being out last week has thrown our plan to the wind. Thank you for your understanding.

First of two posts

SWINE FLU STAY AWAY!!!
As you can imagine our school has thoroughly been cleaned over the past few days. In order to keep the germs at bay I am keeping our classroom especially clean. I am spraying Lysol on chairs, carpets, and tables. I am also wiping down all surfaces with Lysol/Clorox wipes. Not to mention the tons of Purell and Germ-X we are using.
As you can imagine we are going through all these products very fast. I am BEGGING that if you have any of these products that you send some to school with your child. We are doing our very best to keep everyone healthy.
Thanks!
