8 Weeks to go

That's right, only eight weeks of school to go until summer vacation. But, in the mean time we are hard at work preparing ourselves for first grade. Here is a look at what we are doing this week.
Reading: Our book this week is If You Could go to Antarctica by Fay Robinson. We will be exploring the question: "What would it be like to take an adventure to the Antarctic?" Our AMAZING WORDS are Antarctica, continent, icebergs, penguins, seals, and whales. Our sight words this week are: here, go, and from.
Phonics: We will begin working with the short vowel sound for Ee. This is the sound heard in the words egg, elbow, elevator, bed, ten, red, and web. This can be a difficult sound for children to master because it can easily be confused with the short vowel sound for Ii.
Math: This week we will continue with our chapter on data, graphing, and probability. This week we will be learning how to make and read a tally table. We will also explore probability and chance.
