I'm Sorry, So Sorry...
I am so sorry for not having a post this week. As many of you may know I spent the first part of the week away from school sick. Since I have returned we have been going non-stop in order to catch up. But rest assured our blog will be up and running again in no time!

See How We Grow
Reading: This week we are reading a book by Katacha Diaz called, See How We Grow. Our concept question for this week is:"How do children change as they grow?" Our AMAZING WORDS for this week are: twins, newborn, crawl, walk, children, and babies. Our sight words this week are see and look.

Phonics: This week we are working with the sounds made by the letters Dd and Kk.
Math: This week we will be beginning a new chapter about number patterns. In this chapter we will learn how to count by 10s, 5s, and 2s. We will also learn about even and odd numbers and ordinal numbers (first, second, third, etc.)
100th Day Reminder: If you have not sent in your child's portion of our special 100th Day snack please do so ASAP.

Winter is upon us!
Winter is officially upon us. Please remember to send your child to school in a warm coat, hat, and gloves everyday. We do try and go outside everyday in an effort to run off our pent up energy.
Reading: This week we are reading Little Quack by Lauren Thompson. Our concept question for this story is "What new things can you do as you grow and change?" Our AMAZING WORDS are: duckling, pond, paddle, plunged, proud, and brave. Our sight words this week will continue to be me, with and she.

Math: We are finishing up our chapter on number 10-30. Please have your child practice counting to you.

Welcome Back
Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable winter break. We are back in full swing this week in the classroom.


Reading: This week we are reading the book Little Panda by Joanne Ryder. This is the first book in our new unit titled "Watch Me Change". Our concept question for the unit is "How do people, plants, and animals grow and change?" This week we will be learning about how a panda changes in it's first year of life. Our AMAZING WORDS for this week are: weigh, measure, healthy, bamboo, curious, and explore. Our sight words this week are me, with, and she. Remember sight words are words that your child should know instantly.
Phonics: This week we will be learning about the sounds the letters Bb and Nn make. We will learn how to discriminate these sounds in the beginning and the end of words.
Math: We are starting a new chapter this week titled "Numbers 10 to 30". In this chapter we will learn about the numbers 10 to 30 and how see these numbers on ten frames.
Student Readers: The following books are being used this week during our small group lessons. These books can also be found online at http://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com/. Pandas Nap, The Baby Panda, and The Fawn. Please encourage your child to try and read these books to you at home.


Important Reminders: Report Cards will be going home this Friday, January 9th. Please remember to sign and detach the far right portion. You are to keep the large detailed report and send the signature page back to school.
