Holiday Party Fun

Yesterday afternoon was our class holiday party. We had a great time eating, reading, and watching Mickey's Christmas Special. Thank you to all the parents who came. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season. I will see everyone on January 5th, 2009.

We've reached the end...

We have officially reached the end of the first semester of kindergarten. It is a happy and sad milestone for me. I am very happy for the boys and girls because they have done so well adapting to the classroom environment and they have learned so much. I am sad though, because after Christmas Break they will be one step closer to being first graders. I am extremley proud of the progress the students have made over the past 5 months and I know they will only continue to grow socially and academically.

This week will be a very easy week for us. I have several fun Chirstmas activities planned for the students mixed in with some academic review. This week we will be attending art and going to the library for the last time this semester.

Please don't forget our Holiday Party on Thursday afternoon at 1:30. All students are encouraged to wear their favorite holiday pajamas.

A week full of review

This week we will be reviewing skills that we have learned this semester.
In reading we will be working on sight words, sequencing, main idea, compare and contrast, recognizing setting and reality and fantasy.
For phonics work this week we will work on reviewing the sounds we have learned so far this year. We will focus especially on short vowel sounds.
In math we will work with fractions and graphs.

Please don't forget that we will visit the Santa Shop on Thursday morning. Please send your child's money in an envelope with their name on it.
