Our field trip to the fire station

Here are some pictures from our recent trip to the fire station. We want to thank everyone who went along with us. You were a great help. We also want to extend a HUGE thank you to Mr. Lindow for making this trip possible.
Off we go!!! Part of the fun of a field trip is getting to ride in the bus.

I knew we had twins in kindergarten, but triplets????!!!!
Waiting to go into the fire station.

Going up the spiral staircase. This stair case came from the old fire station on Church Street downtown.

Visiting the living area. Big comfy chairs, nice thick mattresses, and a big screen tv! AWESOME!!!

On our way downstairs to see THE TRUCK!

Here it is the big red fire truck!
Unfortunately, I didn't make a picture of the truck by itself.

Oh, spring where have you gone?

WARNING: LONG POST AHEAD!

I woke this morning to Brad Travis announcing (much too cheerfully I might add) that today's high would be around 45 degrees! What!? Spring was here just yesterday, what happened? After Brad announced today's high he went on to say that by Wednesday we would warm back up to spring like temps. Thank goodness! We all have spring fever around here and desperately need to be outside enjoying the warm temps and sunshine!
I have been asked by many parents about the PTA performance next week. Here is some general information (more detailed information will go home later this week). The three kindergarten classes will be performing on Tuesday night at 6 pm in the lunchroom. We will be performing a medley of songs that we have learned this year. We are asking that all children be in their classrooms no later that 5:45 and dressed in blue jeans and a white t-shirt.
Now, on to this week:
Reading: This week our story is Abuela by Arthur Dorros. We will be exploring the question: "What adventures can you have in the city?" Our AMAZING WORDS are: abuela ( grandmother in Spanish), flock, airport, adventure, city, and harbor. Our sight words will continue to be here, go, and from.
Phonics: We will continue to work with the short vowel sound for Ee this week. We will also be working with the sound made by the letter Qq. This is the sound heard in the words queen, quail, and quarter.
Math: We will be beginning a new chapter on addition this week. Our learning goals for this chapter are: 1) to model simple addition stores using objects, 2) to solve simple addition problems using pictures, and 3) to solve problems by using an appropriate strategy such as act it out or make a model.
