April Showers Bring May Flowers

At least that is what the saying is. I don't know about all of you but I am very ready for sunny days! Hopefully this week we will be able to enjoy some nice weather to go outside and play in.
Here is what's going on in our class this week:
Reading: We are beginning a new unit titled, "Going Places". The unit concept question is: "How do people get from here to there?" Our first book in this unit is Max Takes the Train by Rosemary Wells. The concept question for the week is: "How many forms of transportation can you name?" Our AMAZING WORDS are: plane, jetway, subway, tunnel, ferryboat, and sidecar. Our sight words are: yellow, blue, and green.
Phonics: We will be working with the sound made by letter Jj this week. We will also review the sound made by letter Ww.
Math: We will begin our last math chapter this week. This chapter is all about subtraction. Our learning goals for this chapter are: 1) to model simple subtraction problems using objects, 2) to solve simple subtraction problems using pictures and, 3) to solve problems by using appropriate strategies and skills such as act it out or choose the operation.
Other than our regular studies this week we have a lot going on. On Thursday we will be traveling to the fire station to learn how firefighters keep us safe. On Friday we will have the wonderful opportunity to see the Ars Nova production of Disney's Alice in Wonderland here at Chaffee.
