Welcome Back

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable winter break. We are back in full swing this week in the classroom.

Reading: This week we are reading the book Little Panda by Joanne Ryder. This is the first book in our new unit titled "Watch Me Change". Our concept question for the unit is "How do people, plants, and animals grow and change?" This week we will be learning about how a panda changes in it's first year of life. Our AMAZING WORDS for this week are: weigh, measure, healthy, bamboo, curious, and explore. Our sight words this week are me, with, and she. Remember sight words are words that your child should know instantly.

Phonics: This week we will be learning about the sounds the letters Bb and Nn make. We will learn how to discriminate these sounds in the beginning and the end of words.

Math: We are starting a new chapter this week titled "Numbers 10 to 30". In this chapter we will learn about the numbers 10 to 30 and how see these numbers on ten frames.

Student Readers: The following books are being used this week during our small group lessons. These books can also be found online at http://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com/. Pandas Nap, The Baby Panda, and The Fawn. Please encourage your child to try and read these books to you at home.

Important Reminders: Report Cards will be going home this Friday, January 9th. Please remember to sign and detach the far right portion. You are to keep the large detailed report and send the signature page back to school.
