Our Last Full Week

Well, this is our last full week of kindergarten. As I look back I am amazed at how far the children have come. I remember that first day when 27 little bodies came into the room. Now I have 19 first graders. I am so proud! Here is what we will be doing this week in our class.
Reading: We will be concluding our year with the book The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper. This is a classic children’s tale that exhibits determination. Our concept question for this week is “What does a train need to get over the mountain?” Our AMAZING WORDS this week are: engine, tracks, passenger, roadhouse, mountain, and valley. Our sight words are: what, said, and was.
Phonics:
We will continue to work with the short vowel sound of Uu. This is the sound heard in the words fun, run, and gum.
Math: We will continue this week to review skills we have learned during this school year. We will work with addition, subtraction, graphing, fractions, and other concepts.
UPCOMING DATES:
Field Day May 21st
Awards Day May 22nd -Half day for students
Make Up Days- May 26th and 27th
